I met Maggie and Brook for for the first time at their in-person bridal consultation at Holy City. We immediately hit it off as we shared a flight of beers. We chatted about their wedding plans for Boone Hall, and got to know each other more. Despite a few hiccups (thanks Covid), we ended up making their special day happen. Their wedding at Boone Hall on the Cotton Docks was truly fun and beautiful as ever!
Brook and Maggie got married on September 4, 2020. Covid may have forced them to change their original May wedding day out a few months, but the original plan for an intimate, family only ceremony at the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall, then celebrate with the rest of their friends and family remained pretty much as originally planned (with the exception of some social distancing, masks, and sanitizer, of course!)
The day started out with me arriving at The Belmond Charleston Place to take some quick detail and getting ready photos. It’s not very often that my couples actually get ready together in the same room, but these two did. I found it pretty amazing that they were able to spend the beginning portion of their day together, then get dressed separately before their first look.
Once Brook and Maggie were both in their gowns, we set them up in a beautiful location at Boone Hall. Seeing their reactions to each other for the first time all dolled up in their gowns was such a priceless moment that had me on the verge of crying. After taking a few minutes to soak the moment in, we snapped a few quick couples portraits, then made our way back over toward the Cotton Dock.
It was HOT. but luckily their ceremony on the Cotton Dock was shaded, and some cloud coverage offered some relief from the South Carolina heat. Escorted by her brothers, Maggie walked down the aisle, followed by Brook and her father. Their ceremony was short and beautiful. Just before their first kiss, the clouds moved from the sun, revealing warm, beautiful light. Talk about a chilling moment!!
The reception was decorated beautifully with wooden farm tables, gold silverware, blue napkins, and stunning floral to top it all off. Their entire day had a very romantic, laid back southern feel to it. Overall, it was a gorgeous day and wonderful celebration for Maggie and Brook. After dinner and toasts, Brook, Maggie, and their guests spent the rest of the evening dancing to the amazing band Irresistible Groove. At the end of the night, guests sent the two newlyweds off with one of the most joyful sparkler exits I’ve captured.
Maggie and Brook,
Thank you both so much for the opportunity to capture your wedding day for you! You were both so stunning and a joy to work with! I hope you enjoyed your day to the fullest, and I wish you both the absolute best!!
